Looking Towards 2013

Looking Towards 2013

With 2012 now in our rearview mirror and all the new experiences it gave us, we want to do a quick look back at what we achieved and set some goals to reach for in 2013.

In the past year, we’ve formed Crazier Than Thou, competed in our first ever Tough Mudder—and then a 2nd one too!—, Ryan finally ran his first half marathon (despite having run more than that distance in training runs before), Scott ran his first race longer than a half marathon (not sure why we don’t have a race report on it), and most importantly, we gave up our lives as street runners and took up a passion for the trails.

Looking forward to the end of 2013, here are the things we would like to say we accomplished for the year:

  • Run 1,000 miles of trails
  • Run my first 50K
  • Finish a Tough Mudder in under 2 hours
  • Set a new PR at the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon distances
  • Run the Mt. Charleston loop

  • Participate in at least 5 obstacle races
  • Run my first full marathon
  • Average over 50 miles per month
  • Keep up a rate of working out six days per week

  • Participate in at least 2 Tough Mudders
  • Finish a Tough Mudder in under 2 hours
  • Average 25 miles per week for the entire year (1,300 miles total)
  • Run my first full marathon
  • Finish a half marathon in under 1 hour, 50 minutes
  • Complete a Calico Half Slam from Calico Racing
  • Stay injury free

The Mt. Charleston Loop sounds intriguing. If you want to plan a group run sometime let me know via Daily Mile or this blog. I’m doing Spartan Race on April 6, my first obstacle course race. Hope to see you there. Happy New Year!
